PROFILE

I Am Db

Synopsis -

You've heard of reality TV right?  Well...this is reality film.
The cameras follow a filmmaker through the process of making THIS movie as that process ultimately becomes the movie.
I Am DB will show a transition from the very low end, no budget, DV, amateur look to a polished, high quality, HD and then 35mm film with the typical Hollywood look and feel of a large scale production with a sizeable budget; a real-time account of the budget at the time of the making of the film.  It will also show the journey of the director to the number one spot on the IMDb Pro StarMeter from an unknown celebrity state.  Currently in production in Indianapolis, California and New York and wherever else the journey demands.

Production Underway on "I Am DB"
"Jason Jolliff, a moviemaker out of Indianapolis, Indiana who has worked on productions such as Loser's Lounge and Suspended Animation, has launched a surreal new project called I Am DB about a moviemaker's attempt to rise from obscure, no-name status to the top of the Internet Movie Database Pro StarMeter. Jolliff calls this first-person documentary account a cousin to "Reality TV," labeling it "Reality Film." The hope is that as Jolliff creates momentum behind his career (and thus his movie) the production will graduate from its no-budget, shot-on-DV roots to Hollywood-style 35mm filmmaking. Is he completely insane or thoroughly brilliant? You can decide for yourself by visiting http://www.jdigitalproduction.com and reading up on the project's progress."

"I Am DB" was highlighted in the INDIE MOVIE NEWS section of the Movies Online website.

FORUM QUOTES

"I'm very intrigued.  I thought it was a great trailer.  I can't wait to see the film, and the other trailers for that matter."

- J. Mongoloid (IFdotNet forum)

Nice job, Jolliff.  I was about to the "enough with the words already" when you pulled up to the reality film.  I like the effect.  Cut together really well too.

- Joe Sacher (IFdotNet forum)

"Okay this is going to sound a little nutty, but that trailer actually brought a tear to my eye. There is something about seeing what filmmakers go through, seeing the progress you've made, and combining that with the hope that the end of this film is a huge success for you. I watched it three times in a row and it had the same effect. Its just really beautifully done.
Can't wait to see the Phase 2 trailer.

Congrats! this is of course an intriguing project, and I'm always happy to see movies made in the area. The trailer itself looks good too, you did lots with little, and it works rather well.

Again, congrats, and let me know if I can help you at any point!"

"Not too shabby for a movie that started out with a one man crew and a low end DV camcorder back in November [2003]. Be sure to read his "Timeline" on his website. It's exciting to be able to watch the progress."

- hwestphal (IMDb Message Board)

"One day, Jason, was standing in line buying a sandwich. The next, I mean the next day he is overcome by a bolt of genius and comes up with "I am Db". Now from where cometh the genesis, in the sandwich or the man? When we see the movie in theaters soon, ponder that enigma!!"

"Jolliff is the real thing man! All power to him!"

- acdiaz82 (IMDb Message Board)

"I am amazed by the movie trailer. The graphics are fun, and interesting, the music, the clips! It's all fantastic. I got such a sense of overwhelming inspiration to go out and catch MY dreams! I think the trailer is superb and am even more excited to see the movie than I was (if you can believe that!). Jason, I think this is going to work! You're going straight to number one on the IMDb!!!!"

"I downloaded your trailer at school and it played without any audio (no speakers or headphones were available) and I thought it was great. I imagined Beethoven's Ninth playing during the montage at the end though. I just downloaded it again from home (with sound) and it looks and sounds f__king awesome. I wish you best of luck in your continuing journey to get this film made."
