I Am Db

Synopsis -

You've heard of reality TV right?  Well...this is reality film.
The cameras follow a filmmaker through the process of making THIS movie as that process ultimately becomes the movie.
I Am DB will show a transition from the very low end, no budget, DV, amateur look to a polished, high quality, HD and then 35mm film with the typical Hollywood look and feel of a large scale production with a sizeable budget; a real-time account of the budget at the time of the making of the film.  It will also show the journey of the director to the number one spot on the IMDb Pro StarMeter from an unknown celebrity state.  Currently in production in Indianapolis, California and New York and wherever else the journey demands.

PHOTO - Heartland Film Festival Crystal Hearts Award Gala with Jonathan Lipnicki PHOTO - Heartland Film Festival Crystal Hearts Award Gala with Amanda Alch PHOTO - Heartland Film Festival Crystal Hearts Award Gala I attended the 2004 Heartland Film Festival Crystal Heart Awards Gala.  I have never been able to attend this nationally renown event so I thought that it would be a good time to go since my days in Indianapolis are numbered.  It was a spectacular event and I had the opportunity to meet some new friends and other filmmakers.  I continue to get positive responses concerning my film.  I met Jonathan Lipnicki (little kid with glasses from Jerry Maguire) and Amanda Alch, a beautiful young actress.

I spoke with Carole Dean at From the Heart Productions and the Roy W. Dean film / video grant.  We had recently applied for this grant and we were excited to hear that while we did not win the grant, we finished in the top 30 (out of about 100).  Carole went on to say that she was impressed with the DVD info package that we sent and that we would not have gotten past the top 30 had we not represented ourselves well.  We are excited about the positive response considering this was our first grant attempt.  We shall continue seeking other grants.
Because of some pixel drop-outs with Sony's Premium grade MiniDV tapes that I had been using, I decided to switch to Sony's Excellence line in hopes that this issue would be resolved.  I spoke once again with Denis Dwyer (management) at The Tape Company to see if they would be willing to work with me on price for this higher end tape.  He knocked off about a dollar from the $7.55 price down to $6.55.  Thanks goes to The Tape Company for their support of the independent / low budget filmmaker.
