I Am Db

Synopsis -

You've heard of reality TV right?  Well...this is reality film.
The cameras follow a filmmaker through the process of making THIS movie as that process ultimately becomes the movie.
I Am DB will show a transition from the very low end, no budget, DV, amateur look to a polished, high quality, HD and then 35mm film with the typical Hollywood look and feel of a large scale production with a sizeable budget; a real-time account of the budget at the time of the making of the film.  It will also show the journey of the director to the number one spot on the IMDb Pro StarMeter from an unknown celebrity state.  Currently in production in Indianapolis, California and New York and wherever else the journey demands.

I flew to New York with my crew to film my meeting with David Sonkin (see Jan 27).  He tells me that he liked the drive and passion about filmmaking that I have illustrated with this film.  He then tells me that he would like me to be an executive producer / partner with him on a couple "Project Greenlight" type projects.  I am unsure of how many details I can actually disclose on this website so that is all I will say about it for right now.  He is going to email more info on the projects in the following days.  It's a tempting proposition.  I may be moving to NY in the next couple of months.  I will work this project into "I Am DB" if I decide to do it and David decides that he wants me.
February 22, 2004 - Sunday

StarMeter update!  After falling to 29,089 last week because of preparations for my dad's 60th birthday party extravaganza, I figured I would experience more slippage this week as well.  However I am happy to report that my numbers improved to 27,977.  My ranking will never be this low again...
February 17, 2004 - Tuesday

I got an email out of the blue from David Sonkin (see Jan 27).  He stated that he had a couple "Project Greenlight type projects" that he wanted to give me a shot at.  I told him that I will fly out to New York next Tuesday with my camera crew and meet with him.  I have no idea what to expect from this meeting.
February 11, 2004 - wednesday
I visited the Guitar Center (with cameras rolling of course) and walked out with two sets of high quality headphones at cost.  These headphones will be used by the camera crew to verify that they are capturing optimal sound.  The sound quality of this film has just improved.  Dave Howls was kind enough to help out the film with this awesome discount.  Thank you Dave.

Took a meeting with Will Howe who is a co-owner of Circle Bar Saloon in downtown Indy.  He has offered to open up his bar for any kind of promotional party or investor party that we may want to have down the road.  He is also a filmmaker and offered up some great angles.  He also mentioned some other names that we will contact in the near future.

Met with composer Randy Saffen at his studio and began formulating a direction that I wanted the music to take.  He is going to create some things and get back with me in the next few days.  The music for the Phase 1 trailer is sounding good...
February 9, 2004 - Monday

I had a meeting with Randy Saffen who is a composer in the Indianapolis area.  He has agreed to do the musical score for the Phase 1 trailer that I am about to create for this movie.  He has given me a compilation of some of his work which I will listen to and give him an idea of what I'm looking for.
February 3, 2004 - Tuesday

Jason Jolliff and Oscar nominated director John D. Hancock I had a meeting with Oscar nominated director John D. Hancock.  He offered up some great advice and allowed us to take a publicity photo for submission to my IMDb profile.
February 1, 2004 - Sunday

StarMeter update!  My numbers slipped a little bit from 15,463 to 18,812.  I was not able to spend much time on publicity this past week so...it was reflected in the numbers.

I will work most of this week on an investor package for the purpose of seeking a budget.
