Synopsis |
- |
You've heard of reality TV
right? Well...this is reality film.
The cameras follow a filmmaker through the process of making THIS movie as
that process ultimately becomes the movie.
I
Am DB will show a transition from the very low end, no budget, DV,
amateur look to a polished, high quality, HD and then 35mm film with the
typical Hollywood look and feel of a large scale production with a sizeable
budget; a real-time account of the budget at the time of the making of the
film. It will also show the journey of
the director to the number one spot on the IMDb Pro
StarMeter from
an unknown celebrity state. Currently in production in Indianapolis,
California and New York and wherever else the journey demands. |

JASON JOLLIFF -
director |
|
|
|
|
Jason Jolliff was
born in South Bend, Indiana. During most of his
childhood, Jason’s family was filming home movies.
Editing at home on the living room floor with a
homemade film-editing contraption, Jason’s mother
edited family gatherings, her children playing, and
other Jolliff family memories. Marilee Jolliff was
Jason’s first role model; a director, editor, and
producer. Curious, Jason spent much of his childhood
at his mother’s side, using the camera, helping to
edit, and all the while growing into an avid
filmmaker.
Without going to
film school, Jason taught himself the technical
aspects of filmmaking, editing, and directing. At age
20, Jason made his first short film debut. A film that
began simply as the basketball season for Michiana
First Assembly School turned into an extreme sports
video. Edited on two VCR’s and a homemade audio
control box, this video sold out immediately after
release. Jason’s filmmaking career had begun.
After the success of this first venture, Jason did not
look back. He bought a Hewlett Packard Pavilion and
Adobe Premier, a non-linear editing system. With new
equipment, Jason launched his own company, GoodIndie.com.
In 2000, Jason
worked as an assistant editor with Oscar Nominated
Director John D. Hancock on the award winning
“Suspended Animation.” After production, Jason edited
and produced the “behind-the-scenes” featurette for
the nationally distributed DVD. The success of this
film led to more opportunities for Jason. He was a
camera operator for “Wreck “N’ Roll Tree” for Speed
Vision, an extreme snowmobiling film, which was
released independently in 2002. After working on this
project, Jason moved to Indianapolis, where he became
involved with the Indianapolis Independent Film
Community. Jason was the editor and DVD layout
designer for “Loser’s Lounge,” an independent film
that won Best Feature at the Bare Bones International
Film Festival.
With several
projects behind him, Jason was ready to make his
directorial debut. As Jason began screening and
developing several potential projects, the idea and
layout of I AM DB filled and overwhelmed his mind in
the middle of the night. Unable to focus on any other
of his ideas, it was obvious that this reality journey
was the perfect choice. I AM DB combines Jason’s
technical skills as an editor, creative skills as a
designer, and innovative skills as an entrepreneur.
With this film, Jason will be able to use all of his
talents to create, promote, and sell a film that will
generate a higher class of reality filmmaking. |

LAURA JOSLIN -
production supervisor |
|
|
|
|
Laura has a strong
financial background working as a Manager and then
Director of Finance at Paramount Pictures Corporation.
Traveling to various productions, Laura would oversee
the startup and day-to-day production finance and
administrative functions for the domestic television
division. This included working on 6 daily first run
programs, animated series, late-night programming and
talk as well as clip formats. She has been responsible
for the launch, production setup and wrapping of
first-run series.
Laura made the
transition from corporate to freelance as Production
Supervisor for the series WILD THINGS. Again, a
Paramount show, Laura used her budgetary and
cost-analysis skills to keep the production on
financial track and branched out into international
territory with this one-hour wildlife series. WILD
THINGS spanned several countries, many crews and many
foreign obstacles, all handled in her calm,
levelheaded demeanor. Laura can take a highly
complicated financial scenario and translate it into a
clear, simple plan of attack. In the everyday war of
production, she is the team captain. Laura has
supervised three shows for Paramount, MAXIMUM
EXPOSURE, REAL TV and the new show DR. PHIL. |

LISA LEE -
production assistant |
|
|
|
|
Lisa is currently attending the school
of New Media at IUPUI. When she is not shooting shorts
or producing her own music tracks at school, she is
acting, modeling and working as a production assistant
on IMC’s Planet X music video show. Lisa’s work for I
Am DB accelerated “the spawning” of the I Am DB film.
She introduced Ari Wolfe to Jason. Ari introduced
Jason to Emil which started a whole chain of events in
itself. She plans on following production to Cali. |
|
GIANNA SCAPPUCCI -
production assistant |
|
|
|
|
It is no surprise that Gianna's first
word was "TA-DA". She commanded that her presence be
known from the very beginning. Gianna's first exposure
to the arts was at the age of 5 when she began
appearing in local and regional theater in singing,
acting and dancing capacities. At the age of 11, she
appeared in a national Mattel Toy commercial and
recorded voice-overs that are still used today. Even
through her years of graduate education, she has
always found time for the arts and her love of
performance. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana,
she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to pursue her
intellectual career and found herself as a vocalist
for a rock and roll band and has never look back. It
is due to her rock and roll partner in crime, Faith
Marie, that she is a part of this exciting and
unparalleled project. She anxiously awaits the
adventure to come. |
